Protect Your Fingers.

Hand injuries account for nearly 25% of all industrial injuries. Every day, we find ourselves using our hands and fingers in the workplace, so it’s important to minimize risk by taking all necessary precautions. Keep your hands and fingers clear from situations that could turn hazardous, such as pinch points and when working close to automatic machinery. Wear gloves as required, which can be the barrier for many sources of injury. Be mindful of how any tool, door or machinery could bring harm to your hands and fingers.

New family caregiving benefits available for TVA employees.

A new suite of family caregiving benefits for TVA employees is now available through a partnership with Bright Horizons®. TVA employees should have received information mailed to their homes. TVA employees are also invited to attend an informational webinar hosted by Bright Horizons on Aug. 10. Visit the TVA Today Events page to sign up.
  • Bright Horizons Back-Up Careprovides access to back-up care for children, adults and elder family members (pet back-up care coming soon) during a lapse or breakdown in normal care arrangements. Care in high-quality centers for children, screened in-home caregivers for children and in-home adult and elder care is available. TVA is providing 10 days per year at no cost to the employee if a Bright Horizons provider is used. Up to $100 per day will be reimbursed if a non-Bright Horizons provider is used.
  • Bright Horizons Enhanced Family Supports™ offers access to elder care support services, Sittercity for finding babysitters, pet care and housekeepers, and discounts on nanny placement services, tutoring, summer camp and STEM learning providers for your family. 
  • Bright Horizons Elder Care™ provides personalized support to manage caregiving plans for elder loved ones.   
  • Bright Horizons Special Needs™ provides support to help you identify learning, attention, emotional, behavioral or other developmental issues early and equip you to better understand, advocate for and support your child from birth through young adulthood.

Leader Tips and Tools

Deadline: FY22 Performance Ratings must be entered by Sept. 23.

Leaders will have the ability to enter preliminary ratings for M&S/Excluded employees and mark “Save” in ePerformance to support SBU performance calibration meetings. Leaders will have until COB on Sept. 23 to finalize all ratings and comments after any applicable performance calibration meetings occur. To finalize a rating, leaders must move the document into the “Available for Review” status, making ratings available to the eCompensation module, which is critical for ensuring employees are eligible to receive merit increases.
A few reminders:
  • Applicable performance calibrations meetings may continue until the final deadline. It’s the manager’s responsibility to go back into the ePerformance system to update any ratings that change as a result of a performance calibration meeting.
  • Holistic feedback (multi-raters/self evals) will help inform your overall performance ratings and strengthen your talking points for upcoming performance discussions.
  • Marking documents as “Available for Review” does not automatically make them available to employees. Performance reviews will not become available to employees in ePerformance until Oct. 7.
  • If the document is already in “Available for Review” status, the manager can click the “Reopen” button to edit a rating or comment before Sept. 23. After September 23, the ratings and associated comments cannot be edited under any circumstances.
  • Look ahead: Performance discussions may begin on Sept. 26 and must be completed by Nov. 17.
